Petzl Summit

Crafted specifically for classic mountaineering, the Petzl Summit ice axe strikes the ideal balance between cost and capability. Its lightweight design allows for strong anchoring with both the head and spike, while its curvature provides ample room for conquering steep ice. This versatile tool can be utilized in piolet-canne or piolet-rampe mode, as well as in piolet-traction mode for tackling short, steep sections with precision.

  • The pick is thin (3 mm) and has a toothed tip, ensuring solid anchoring in both hard snow and ice.
  • The middle section of the pick is thicker, which enhances anchoring in softer snow.
  • The teeth on the upper part of the pick strengthen the ice axe’s hold when used in piolet-rampe mode.
  • A durable stainless steel spike offers excellent penetration in hard snow and when using the piolet-canne technique.
