The Petzl Summit Evo ice axe is expertly designed for classic mountaineering, making it the ideal tool for any alpine excursion. With its lightweight and waterjet-formed tube, it offers a comfortable grip beneath the head of the axe. The curved shaft design ensures clearance on steep, icy terrain, while the forged and well-balanced head provides excellent anchoring capabilities. Thanks to the precise shaft grip, this ice axe is both efficient and accurate.

Features

• The ice axe is lightweight, yet sufficiently weighted in the head to provide excellent anchoring power.

• The hydroformed handle is designed to offer a secure grip at the curve, featuring a technical design:
  
  
  • The upper section of the shaft is curved to provide ample clearance during climbs.
  • The lower section remains straighter, ensuring effective penetration in snow.

• The head and pick are made of hot-forged steel, offering robust anchoring capabilities:
  
  
  • The pick is thin (3 mm), durable, and features a toothed tip, ensuring strong anchoring in hard snow and ice.
  • The middle section of the pick is thicker, designed to enhance anchoring in softer snow.
  • The teeth on the upper part of the pick enhance the hold on the ice axe when in piolet-rampe mode.
  • A durable stainless steel spike ensures excellent penetration in hard snow and when used in piolet-canne mode.

  • The highly durable steel adze provides a comfortable support surface, and the edges are shaped to efficiently carve steps.
  • The tilted adze helps direct the axe into the snow correctly when used in piolet-canne mode.
  • Both the head and spike are equipped with holes for clipping a carabiner or attaching a sling.
  • The shaft is made of high-quality 7075 aluminium (commonly used in aeronautics) with an anodised finish for superior protection.
