Mountain Equipment's Gasherbrum Men's Jacket is an exceptionally warm, ultra-light expedition down jacket, proven on the longest Polar journeys and the coldest routes at altitude.

Mountain Equipment began in 1961 due to a need for specialist down gear. Over 60 years later, the Gasherbrum Jacket continues that tradition, bringing together all their expertise and experience with modern materials and technology.

The Gasherbrum provides crucial insulation for those going to the world's highest and coldest places in lightweight style where every gram counts. Proven on the longest human-powered Polar Journey in history, it was used for over 100 days on a return trip to the South Pole, and it has seen use up to 7000 and 8000 metres by experienced users taking alpine style climbing to the highest mountains.

360 g of Mountain Equipment's highest quality Goose Down is controlled with a full box wall construction for maximum warmth, each baffle being optimised in shape and size to maximise the performance and loft of the fill. The elasticated EXL system in the back of the jacket helps this further. The EXL system adds no weight to the jacket, but gently hugs the user to dramatically reduce dead space between layers and greatly reduce compression of the down. EXL continues into the ultra-protective hood, where it not only increases warmth but also helps to accommodate a helmet or other layers with the minimum of adjustment in conditions well below zero.

A Drilite Loft outer shell provides complete protection from the wind, and a very high level of weather resistance alongside the breathability required to prevent moisture buildup during extended use. Internal mesh pockets are a crucial feature to prevent water bottles from freezing and ensure that spare gloves and mitts stay warm.

Drilite Loft is Mountain Equipment's exclusive range of water repellent fabrics used in their insulated clothing and equipment. With a water repellent coating that offers genuine water resistance (a 1500 mm hydrostatic head), this isn't just a DWR that will wear off, and Drilite Loft fabrics remain highly water resistant throughout the lifetime of the product.

Mountain Equipment's Down Codex programme has set the benchmark for down sourcing in the outdoor industry since 2009. All their down is RDS (Responsible Down Standard) certified and using a unique barcode in each product you can track the exact quality of the down that you buy.
