Description
Description
Mountain Equipment's warmest sleeping bag. Suitable for the very coldest and most severe conditions encountered during Antarctic expeditions and on 8,000 m peaks.
Part of Mountain Equipment's Extreme Expedition sleeping bag range, the Redline is designed for extended use in polar environments and on 8,000 m peaks.
Using 1282 g of exceptionally high-quality minimum 800-fill power CODEX-approved European goose down and a lightweight yet durable GORE-TEX WINDSTOPPER® 10 denier outer fabric, the Redline keeps you warm in punishingly cold temperatures while also being highly breathable and water resistant.
Extreme Expedition bags like the Redline utilise Mountain Equipment's most complex baffle system. Through the chest and upper legs, V-shaped baffles maximise down overlap and eliminate cold bridges, while trapezoid baffles prevent down migration across the middle of the bag. Full-length baffles down each side maintain the bag's optimised box-like structure. A complex seven-baffle system concentrates down in the hood for optimum warmth and protection over long-term use. In comparison, in the anatomically shaped foot box, a six-baffle system focuses warmth around the feet.
Down type and density are varied strategically through the bag to ensure it can resist compression on the underside while allowing maximum loft on the top. Mountain Equipment's time-tested EXL® elasticated stitching system minimises dead airspace, reduces drafts, and pulls the liner fabric away from the down, allowing it to loft effectively for maximal warmth.
A full-length Gemini™ entry zip baffle dramatically reduces heat loss in this typically vulnerable area, and the low-profile magnetic Lode Lock™ closure and collar drawcords are easy to use in the dark. An internal mesh pocket and secure zipped pocket keep essentials close to hand.
Mountain Equipment's Extreme Expedition bags have a roomy Expedition fit for comfortable sleeping and accommodating extra down layers. A large foot box with a breathable GORE-TEX WINDSTOPPER® liner can accommodate boot liners and damp items.
