The Black Diamond Raven Ice Axe offers a modern interpretation of Chouinard's original curved-pick mountain axe. It remains a classic piolet, widely used by mountaineers across iconic climbs worldwide for decades. With its recent redesign, the Raven is now lighter and features an updated, ergonomically designed investment-cast, stainless steel head, enhancing comfort during walking. The newly adjusted pick and adze geometry improve placement security and chopping efficiency, while the revamped spike provides better grip and plunge-ability on icy surfaces. Additionally, the durable aircraft-grade aluminium shaft is enhanced with a trapezoidal cross-section, offering a more comfortable and secure grip.
