Description
Description
The Kryos was designed based on feedback from top alpinists and climbers who were pushing lightweight jackets to higher, more technical routes. Their focus was on reducing weight and pack size, but they still needed warmth and protection for tough routes at 6000-7000m and big Alpine winter climbs. Our goal was to create a jacket that delivered both.
The secret to achieving this was the development of our FIRESTORM™ construction. This involved a drop outer WINDSTOPPERⓇ shell that dramatically reduced heat loss while boosting weather protection—essential for the most challenging routes. Beneath that, a hybrid design of stitch-through and pleated baffles maximised loft and warmth from the 200g of goose-down insulation.
As climber Uisdean Hawthorn said after testing the Kryos on Pakistan’s Koyo Zom, "I was shocked by how much warmer it was compared to what I’d used before... and it’s far less bulky, making it easier to move after long belays."
The Kryos has been a part of some of the hardest ascents, like Paul Ramsden and Tim Miller’s Piolet d’Or-winning climb of Jugal Spire, Tom Livingstone and Matt Glenn’s first ascent of Tengkangpoche’s North East Pillar, and Uisdean Hawthorn’s Piolet d’Or-winning first ascent on Mount Robson’s Emperor Face.

Firestorm Firestorm construction harnesses the advantages of stitch-through constructions – freedom of movement and low weight – with the protection offered by a completely separate GORE-TEX INFINIUMTM outer fabric that improves weather resistance. A result of a huge research and development project, it is used only in their very highest performing down products. It is already well-proven on some of the world's highest mountains and hardest routes by climbers like Tom Livingstone, Nick Bullock, Paul Ramsden and Chantel Astorga. |
