The Oreus Jacket represents the culmination of a five-year development initiative aimed at creating what is believed to be the finest mid-weight synthetic garment currently on the market. Constrained by the limitations of existing synthetic fills, the team set out to engineer a proprietary solution, integrating fibres with heat-reflective fabric technology. Now patent pending and exclusive to Mountain Equipment, Aetherm™ Precision Insulation provides greater warmth than any product of comparable weight, alongside improved breathability and compactness.

This jacket has already proven its merit, with prototypes enduring rigorous use from the Karakoram to Patagonia and the Alps. The feedback from the athlete team has been overwhelmingly positive, with many opting for the Oreus in place of lightweight down due to its superior warmth, performance, and resilience in challenging environments.

Importantly, the Oreus Jacket stands out as one of the most adaptable garments one can own. Insulation

• Groundbreaking Aetherm™ Precision Insulation delivers the comfort and thermal efficiency of down while offering the hard-wearing, weather-resistant qualities of synthetic fill.
• Insulation is constructed from 100% recycled polyester and incorporates a reflective layer that enhances thermal performance.

Materials

• The jacket utilises 100% recycled PLASMA 10D fabric for both inner and outer layers, treated with PFAS-free DWR, ensuring it remains exceptionally light and breathable.

Patterning & Design

• A Regular Fit has been employed to maximise heat retention whilst permitting unrestricted movement.

Hood Configuration

• The Mountain HC Insulated Hood is fully adjustable and comfortably accommodates a helmet.

Pocket Configuration

• Two YKK® zipped handwarmer pockets provide convenient access to essentials.
• A YKK® zipped chest pocket offers additional secure storage.
• A generously sized inner drop pocket is ideal for gloves or other items that benefit from retained warmth.
• The inner pocket also functions as an integrated pack pocket and includes twin karabiner loops for easy attachment.

Centre Front Zip

• A two-way YKK® moulded centre front zip features an insulated rear baffle to reduce heat loss and block out wind.
• The zip has been designed for ease of use while wearing gloves.

Cuffs & Sleeves Configuration

• Elasticated cuffs enable seamless glove integration and ensure a snug seal to preserve warmth.
• Articulated, pre-shaped sleeves allow full range of movement, even when layered up for climbing.

Waist & Hem Construction

• Dual tether drawcords at the hem enable tailored adjustment and enhance thermal retention.
