Mountain Equipment Orion Men's Jacket

A highly breathable waterproof shell ideal for climbing and mountaineering on big objectives, whether close to home or far from anywhere. Tough, lightweight and highly breathable, the Orion Jacket thrives while climbing, mountaineering and ski touring in the most difficult conditions. Closely related to the class-leading Tupilak Jacket, the Orion shares the same exceptionally protective design and the highest levels of construction.

The Orion uses a nanoporous membrane with 10 billion nanopores per square inch, delivering excellent breathability whilst maintaining a hydrostatic head of over 20,000 mm. This is combined with an exceptionally abrasion-resistant 160 Denier face fabric through the highest wear areas of the jacket, and a 70 Denier fabric that gives slightly greater flexibility through the rest of the body.

This is the first time Mountain Equipment has used its highest standards of Storm construction outside of the GORE-TEX PRO range, employing extensive laser cutting, bonding and optimised stitch counts to make these the best-designed and constructed shells in the world. One of the Orion's standout features is its Super Alpine Hood, a painstakingly developed refuge from the very worst mountain conditions and a hood you can actually climb hard in rather than just hide under. Designed to fit easily over a helmet, it provides protection from snow, rain and brutal wind.
