Description
Description
Ideal for multi-day routes or the longest climbing days, this durable, highly weather-resistant yet lightweight climbing pack is optimised for alpine and winter climbing on the steepest lines and biggest faces.
With a 45-litre optimum capacity, custom-developed fabrics and aluminium hardware, the Tupilak 45+ is a lightweight, highly weather-resistant and durable climbing and mountaineering pack ideal for multi-day alpine routes and long climbing days in the most severe winter conditions. Developed through more than 35 prototypes, the team has used it extensively on some of the world's most challenging alpine lines and for dependable day-in and day-out use by alpine guides and instructors.
Like all Tupilak packs, the Tupilak 45+ uses custom-developed high tenacity PACT 300 and 100 R² fabrics. These are lightweight but highly robust and weather-resistant fabrics, easily repelling snow and withstanding even the most severe mountain conditions. An integrated cowl-lid closure with a custom-developed Grappler buckle further seals out the weather and is easy to use in poor conditions. In contrast, a secondary internal roll-top closure provides additional weather protection and keeps wet and dry items separate during multi-day expeditions.
A streamlined hourglass shape facilitates packing and offers a more stable carry for hiking and climbing, while an EVA back panel provides support and improves comfort. Similarly, high-density EVA foam shoulder straps are low profile to facilitate climbing mobility but offer excellent carrying performance on long walk-ins. Side compression straps with lightweight aluminium buckles improve load stability and can accommodate items such as sleeping mats or even skis. Likewise, aluminium ice axe toggles and bungee cord systems offer more significant carrying potential. To shed weight for challenging ascents or summit pushes, the back panel, hip fins, compression straps, bungee and ice tool toggles can all be stripped if not required.

About PACT Fabric
PACT 300 and 100 R² are custom-developed high tenacity fabrics exclusive to Mountain Equipment's Tupilak range. These lightweight yet highly robust and weather-resistant fabrics easily repel snow and withstand even the most severe mountain conditions. The combination of durability and low weight makes them ideal for demanding alpine and winter climbing where every gram counts.
On Demand Minimalism
The innovative On Demand Minimalism design allows you to strip the pack down to its essentials for challenging ascents or summit pushes. The back panel, hip fins, compression straps, bungee cords and ice tool toggles can all be removed when not required, reducing the pack weight from 1020 g to just 730 g. This versatility makes the Tupilak 45+ adaptable to any mountain objective, from multi-day expeditions to fast and light alpine ascents.
